The Secretary General for Public Health and R&D&I in Health, Áurea Morillo, read a manifesto before dozens of researchers this morning in Granada in memory of María Castellano, the first woman professor of Medicine in Spain who died recently.
Morillo, who shared the space with managers and scientific directors of research centers and hospitals as well as with researchers from these centers, emphasized that “her figure and her career have and will have an enormous influence on new generations due to her pioneering nature, but also because she was an exemplary professional who embodies the fundamental values of Medicine: humanity, ethics, leadership, solidarity and a vocation for teaching”.
“Her legacy is, without a doubt, a source of inspiration for all of us who are health professionals; therefore, let this humble and simple tribute that we want to pay her from the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Andalusian Regional Government serve to highlight it and make it known to the new generations,” added áurea Morillo.
